Design is Key

I just wanted to take some time only a few days away from the election to talk about Design strategies. Im currently enrolled in a Typography class and it has opened my eyes to different views on type and design. Above I pictured the signs for both view on the very controversial gay marriage Prop 8 (in California). If you knew nothing of the background behind the prop which one would you vote for? Most likely yes on 8.  Even though Lime green is my favorite color thats about all the designer for the NO sign did right. He used a Sans Serif font which normally is meant to get lost in the background. He also used all capitol letters which should come off as bold but with the pastelish colors it just becomes a big blur. The Yes on 8 designer use a bright yellow to gain the audiences attention. They even incorporated a caricature of a family and they look pretty happy dancing around. Over all this sign grabs my attention a lot quick and more effective then the No sign. Basically I'm saying you have to go out there and learn what these props are about. Educate yourself before you vote. Don't vote based on what looks prettier because you might not get what you want. 

Also head over to The Hundreds blog. Bobby Hundreds did a in depth look at the Obama logo, which i have always thought was a genius logo. Simple but effective and Bobby Hundreds does a great job of explaining it.

DXC round 4

The DunkXchange was back in Fullerton, so you know we had to make an appearance. After a late night of printing , chilli dogs, beer, taco bell (Volcano Tacos), gatorade, and more beer we busted out a whole line for Legacy Clothing. We also did few reprints or our last season and two new tees one of those being the infamous OBAMA OVER BITCHES shirts which had a pretty good response at the DXC.

Even though Obama Is Sporting a Phillies hat in no way do we support them DODGERS ALL THE WAY! Im watching the game right now what a great first inning, and then many almost getting in a fight, this is gonna be a great game.

Cleaning House

Recently we purchase a sweet new to us but pretty used conveyor dyer. We got tired for flashing everything and taking it to our friend miguel's shop to cure the ink. Were trying together together a full service print shop but until then were still chillin in the garage. Friday morning we woke up bright and early around noon ahhaah and cleaned out my garage, packed everything up and moved into a bigger beater spot.

Were just one step closer to making this our living. Its amazing to see things taking bigger steps.

Emergency!!!

The other night I was over hanging out at some apartment with a few friends of mine when we get a frantic phone call from another friend of our saying she was in a bad car accident. Long Story short she got hurt and we spent a very good portion our our night at the Emergency room. I will take some pictures of her bruised ribs is she will let me hahaha. 

On my way to got get something out of the vending machine i ran across these posters on the way the one to my right in the picture was in english and the one to my left in the picture was in spanish. The messed up thin is that the English poster is clearly been messed around in photoshop by some graphic designer. Its obviously the same picture for both posters, but in the spanish one she looks darker skinned and the english one she looks alot more fair skinned. I little messed up i think 

Earlier that night we finally got to pick up out conveyor dryer after two weekish of trying to get a group together to lift this beast. We even go the opportunity to get a U-HAUL it was a bitch and maybe go crashed a little bit... but don't tell them that haha. This is our good friends dylan (left) and david (right) david actually drew a design for a shirt dropping possible this next weekend at DUNKXCHANGE.

And on a Funnier Side i gave a presentation on contraception last tuesday in my human sexuality class. We gave out lots of good safe sex information and FREE condoms. This is mike, he works over at volcom, since our grade was based on the classes opinion we thought it would be funny to but a condom over his hand .. it worked.
